Governor Delivers School Funding Status Report to Attorney General

"It is my firm belief that the investment we make in our children not only defines us as policymakers, today, it defines the legacy we leave for Montana in the future." - Governor Brian Schweitzer, Status Report 2008

This is the status report of actions taken by 2007 legislature, in combination with actions taken by Legislature in 2005. The following are highlights:

* 32% increase in funding to quality education over last 4 years

* If looking at funding to K-12 public school districts, only, the increase in funding is 27%

* Legislature has defined what is meant to have a "quality education"

* Legislature has funded quality public education pursuant to statutory definition - targeting money to statutory components of "quality" consistent with "educationally relevant factors"
